Progress in Screening Tests for Prions in Blood

The recent 3rd IPFA Int.Workshop on TSEs and the Safety of Blood Components and Plasma Derivatives in Paris revealed the latest evaluation results of several test developments. During the last couple of months, several manufacturers have achieved considerable progress in analytical sensitivity of their blood screening tests for pathogenic prions. Remains the paucity of clinical samples.
